The Palestinians Are People Too

The Palestinians in Gaza, what a resilient group of people. Innocent men, women, and children are being starved and bombed at the same time. Who will cry, have mercy and compassion for their lives, their suffering? As the days turn into night, we sit, eat, and drink in the comfort of our favorite restaurants and bars, other members of our human families are living in what one can only call a Hell on Earth.

In total comfort. members of the world community witnessed, on media of their choice, the abomination/deaths of small children and babies that are gone too soon. As we move forward, how will we explain, to our children, this wicked level of man inhumanity to man?

Now, I want to discuss “Collective Punishment.” It is a deeply controversial topic that t involves penalizing a group of people for the actions of one or a few individuals within that group. Members of the world community argue that it is inherently inhumane and violates principles of justice and fairness, punishing innocent individuals who had no power over, nor involvement in the wrongdoing. International law, including the Geneva Conventions, prohibits collective punishment in times of conflict/war, recognizing its potential for abuse and harm.

I hope that ALL of the Israeli captives come home to their loved ones very soon. They don’t deserve the extreme trauma, pain, and misery that they have and are enduring. The stupidity, misguided, and deadly actions of Hamas cannot be forgiven. At the same time, the level of collective punishment against the Palestinian people cannot be acceptable by any moralistic being. May the Most High protect them also as they struggle to live to see another day! It’s past time that we join hands and demand Global PEACE!
